Derk is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of leadership and executive level management experience in the government and private sector. Derk specializes in working with small business owners and entrepreneurs who are challenged with limited training and or professional development resources. Derk’s education background includes two advanced business degrees MBA and a MSc. Mgt from the Graduate School of Management & Technology, University of Maryland University College, Adelphi, MD.; a Bachelor of Science degree, with distinction, in Organizational Management from Nyack College, Nyack, New York: And, he is a graduate of the U. S. Army’s Premier Military Installation Management & Leadership Program, from the Army Management Staff College (AMSC) Fort Belvoir, VA. Derk, an Adjunct Professor, Business Studies, Prince Georges Community College (PGCC) serves on the advisory council of the PGCC, Capital One Entrepreneurship Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and PGCC’s Adjunct Faculty Task Force, to attract, train, support, and retain most qualified faculty. He also serves on the Bowie State University (BSU) 2014/present Entrepreneurship Academy Advisory Council (EAAC). Derk, is an active blog and webinar contributor, on leadership and management, for the University Maryland University College (UMUC) Career and Alumni Services.
